Statistics are a way of creating a connection between experience and theory. We use this fact in order to obtain a better idea of what we experience every day, both locally and in the wider context. The figures, graphs, tables and illustrations in our Working Aid of 2015 are intended to demonstrate what the Catholic Church in Germany means: 359,633 young people aged between eight and 18 serve as altar boys and girls; Catholic schools form part of the German educational landscape with a total of 905 schools; 23.8 million people all over Germany belong to the Catholic Church.
